Interior + Exterior Update: 2019 Chevy Malibu Details Via GM Authority

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Powertrain, technology, interior, and exterior all receive updates for the Chevy Malibu’s 2019 refresh, and the staff on duty at the GM Authority blog offered up the details in a holiday-themed blog feature last week. This update comes three years after the launch of the 9th-generation Chevy Malibu, and some of the most exciting changes are present on the exterior. You get to pick from three well-designed exterior colors, as well as a completely restyled front and rear fascia. The grilles and headlamps are now all-new, and the lower grille is larger and bolder, evoking a more powerful vibe overall.

High-performance LED lights are now integrated into the headlamps for the Malibu Premier models, and LT models also receive new LED signature daytime running lamps. There is a new rear valance that pushes the dual-exhaust outlets a bit further toward the corners, which ultimately gives the car a revitalized sense of width. Keyless Open will be offered on front doors only, and the new CVT transmission with 5.10 final drive ratio replaces the 6-speed automatic transmission, boasting a 3.23 final drive axle ratio on L, LS, and LT equipment groups, seeing all models equipped with a 1.5-Liter turbo engine.

On the inside, the Malibu gets a new 8-inch reconfigurable color driver information center, situated in the gauge cluster right between the tachometer and speedometer. The midsize sedan sees the addition of a new Infotainment 3 system, sporting standard 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen radio, and offering updated navigation features to help on the journey to guide you home. Make sure you ask us here at Jim Butler of St Louis about the benefits of the Malibu L trim: it’s where you gain one of the coolest safety features of the last decade: the rear-vision camera. We have seen time and time again the various stats that show us how often kids lurk precariously behind parked cars, and this feature allows you to survey your back-up area thoroughly to be perfectly safe before proceeding.

Known as the VT40, this is GM’s first CVT since 2005, a chain-drive design for front-wheel drive vehicles. Currently, the CVT model is rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and the six-speed automatic version snags down 28 mpg city, 38 highway, and 32 combined. The good folks at Motortrend.com commented that “the 8.0-inch touchscreen is a great highlight of the interior,” and is the perfect medium to access the easy-to-use infotainment system. The Motortrend team drove the Malibu around Seattle’s outskirts, on a 120-mile route that was made up of highways, pine trees, and picturesque sea inlets. They ranked highway performance as “commendable,” with steering also being light, accurate, and road noise cancellation is right on par.

The LT trim provides the availability of packages not offered on lower trims, including two highly-equipped driver-assist packages. The hybrid engine option is projected to nail down an EPA rating of 49/43 mpg city/highway, putting to use the best in modern technology as well as streamlined and precise development. Come down now to check out how this model is fiercely in line for the winter battle against the likes of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord and is armed to the holiday nines with the best suite of driver-assist features and tech in existence!

Autoblog.com Has Praise for the 2019 Malibu For Being “Interesting, Well-designed, and Efficient”

Those who are coming to Jim Butler of St. Louis looking for sedans admittedly have a throng of options to choose from, and we have every reason to steer them towards what we feel their best choice is. There are some “very real headwinds”, as the folks at Autoblog write, facing the Malibu as crossover SUVs are dominating much of the landscape, and the fittest of sedans are forced to offer the best and most practical in features and sensibility to satisfy buyers. The RS Trim Level is where customers are really expressing their satisfaction, with its black grille, blacked-out bowtie badge, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, and dual-outlet exhaust take a firm and direct aim at competitors such as the Accord Sport and Passat R-Line.

The six-speed auto is left behind for a brand new CVT, and the engine remains a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four, sticking around as a very suitable option for this car’s particular notches in the size and weight department. Much larger upper and lower openings are filled with a distorted-diamond mesh, and improvements made to the low-beam lighting force some elements to move down nicely, with a bit less busy brightwork at hand. In the back, dual exhaust tips poke out from a heavily-revised lower fascia, replacing the tucked tips hidden behind the old Malibu’s bumper skin.

Knowledgeable writer Alex Kierstein laments that the car is not terribly heavy, so the 1.5-Liter works just fine here as the power source. The power handling itself, ride, and delivery feels able, firm, and exciting, well evoking a pleasantness that you’ll be eager to step into for your daily drive. The continuously variable transmission is destined to improve efficiency, and the damping easily smooths out smaller imperfections on the highway. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and a Wi-Fi hotspot with embedded navigation are available on the higher trim levels.

The Infotainment 3 system improves upon last year’s design to make it even easier to use, and ample head, as well as legroom and 15.8 feet of cargo space in the trunk, are all great reasons to pick the Malibu as your next choice for a vehicle. Come to check out how space and added loads of new technology are prime assets of the new Malibu, and can shed 300 pounds from the car’s curb weight. The real heart and soul of the RS is the ways in which it ups the ante in sportiness, and provides extras like a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Rear vision backup camera now comes standard, and just like the 2018 Chevy Malibu, we absolutely expect next year’s version to receive a perfect safety rating from the NHTSA. This means that every time you hit the road, you and your family can expect class-leading protection, with the Driver Confidence II Package adding forward collision warning, and front pedestrian braking.

A New Malibu on The Horizon: Showcasing The Modern Midsize Sedan Just Right For You

Fuel economy, base price, and new features are some of the biggest driving factors for any new car that customers we talk to here at Jim Butler are looking for. The Malibu is one of those cars that customers have loved instantly, and much thought was given to the features new for 2019. There is a restyled front and rear, with new front fascia, grilles, and headlamps, a new rear fascia, and dual-element tail amps, with the availability of LED taillights to boot. There is a new 8-inch reconfigurable color driver information center, and the Chevy infotainment 3 has a new, 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen radio, with newly available navigation radio.

The rear-vision camera is included on Malibu L trim, a huge help to see behind you in grave detail if backing up in

a hurry. The Malibu Premier trim also adds rear heated outboard seats and CVT transmission on models with the 1.5L Turbo engine. The all-new Malibu RS offers a sporty, much more personalized appearance, driven by blacked-out styling cues, that include a black sports grille, bowtie emblems, rear spoiler, and 18-inch wheels as well as dual-outlet exhaust. Inside, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter, and black cloth seats are highlights that give the driver the ability to enjoy upper-end stylings at the entry-level pricing point.

The L, LS, RT, and LT are powered by the 1.5L Turbo engine, which has a Continuously Variable Transmission; the slightly headier 2.0 L Turbo engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission is standard on Premier. OnStar 4G LTE with wi-fi hotspot is standard on LS, RS, and LT, which now includes the 3-month 3GB data trial. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone projection compatibility are standard on LS, RS, LT, Hybrid, and Premier trims, and the ultra-useful Teen Driver feature is standard on LS, RS, LT, Hybrid, and Premier trims to boot.

Safety features are one of the most important aspects of a new car: knowing that you

are embarking on the road with any amount of less worry is always a way to immediately feel more secure. Next year’s Malibu has ten standard airbags, including frontal and knee driver, as well as front-passenger airbags, seat-mounted side-impact, and roof rail for rear and front outboard positions. Traction control has really been taking the center stage lately as far as stability is concerned: the hill hold function is amazing when you find yourself on an incline and in need of a sturdy standstill.

When you come down to visit us at Jim Butler for a test drive of the awesome and feature-packed Malibu, make sure you check out the Driver Confidence Package II: it’s available on Premier and provides the features of Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, and the excellent nighttime aid of IntelliBeam automatic high-beam control.

Updated 2019 Chevy Malibu Receives Style-Oriented RS Trim

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

One of the qualities of our brand that we pride ourselves on so much here at Jim Butler of St Louis is pricing points that will appeal to a large variety of customers. New for this year, the midsize Chevy Malibu receives a large number of updates, including a new RS trim that’s positioned in the middle of the available choices. It’s a very style-oriented package in the same category as on healthy rivals such as the Toyota Camry SE. Beginning in the $25,000 price range, it ought to appeal to shoppers who are looking for a new car on a budget, still sporting attractive features.

The package will come with the 1.5- liter turbocharged engine and will abandon the six-speed automatic transmission for a replacement that’s continuously variable. RS models will also receive 18-inch wheels, a black sport grille, black emblems, a rear spoiler, and dual exhaust. Interior offerings will include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, with cloth seats as well. The entire Malibu line will also see a new style of taillamps, and more exterior colors to choose from. There is an 8-inch touchscreen inside to glean the goods from the brand new Infotainment 3 System, and all trims will now receive a backup camera.

If you are looking to opt for the Premier trim, you graduate to a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo engine, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also enjoy the benefit of standard heated rear outboard seats, a nice additive for winters like this past one right here in Missouri. The Hybrid version still carries over for next year, with the 1.8-liter engine and electric motor, boasting an EPA rating of 49 miles per gallon in the city.

Safety tech has really made its life-saving mark on many different vehicles the past few years, and Chevy has group

collision-avoidance tech in two packages that build on each other. With the Driver Confidence Package, you receive blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, and parking sensors. Opting for Drivers Confidence package II also yields low-speed automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Many shoppers with brand new families in tow will be happy to note that the IIHS rated last year’s Malibu a Top Safety Pick, solidifying its protective stance while on the open road. We’ll keep you updated on dates and destinations for the new Malibu, and expect it to roll out on floors during the fall!

2016 Malibu Hybrid Estimated to Reach 47 MPG Combined

Hybrid Chevy sedan to be manufactured in US, go on sale next spring

2016 Malibu three q shot Jim Butler ChevroletUnsurpassed fuel economy is the name of the game for the new 2016 Malibu hybrid. According to General Motors President Dan Ammann, the hybrid sedan can produce a combined 47 mpg — 45 mpg highway, 48 mpg city — according to GM’s estimates. The announcement was made before the 2016 Malibu’s reveal at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

The hybrid Malibus are slated to hit Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis — Missouri’s No.1 Chevy dealer — in spring 2016.

Taking a Cue from the Chevy Volt

The new 2016 Malibu finds its power from a two-motor drive unit slightly modified from the 2016 Chevy Volt. This drive unit is mated with a direct-injection 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. It provides additional power to assist the engine during acceleration, for a total system power of 182 horsepower.

2016 Malibu front shot Jim Butler ChevroletAn 80-cell, 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack brings power to the 2016 Malibu’s hybrid system. The advanced lithium-ion based chemistry powers the Malibu hybrid at up to 55 mph on electricity alone. The gasoline-powered engine will automatically come on at higher speeds when necessary to provide additional power.

But it’s not Volt’s drive unit that inspired the design of the 2016 Malibu hybrid. The hybrid Chevrolet sedan shares power electronics and a blended regenerative braking system. This provides maximum kinetic energy recovery during braking to be stored into the battery system to assist in maintaining the charge.

The Malibu Hybrid will be manufactured in Kansas City, Kans., at the Fairfax Assembly plant with globally sourced parts. No announcement has yet been made on when the 2016 Malibu hybrids will begin production, but they are on target for a sale date of spring 2016.

St. Louis Chevy fans who have always wanted to drive a hybrid should stay tuned for more information on the 2016 Malibu hybrid from Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis.

2016 Malibu Technology Encourages Safe Driving for Teens

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Teens are more likely to be involved in fatal crashes nearly three times more often than drivers age 20 and older according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2016 Malibu aims to cut these numbers with a new system called Teen Driver. These 2016 Malibus with the Teen Driver system are set to hit Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis by the end of 2015.

“We developed this system so parents could use it as a teaching tool with their kids,” MaryAnn Beebe, GM safety engineer, said. “They can discuss and reinforce safe driving habits. As a mother of two, I know anything that has the potential of keeping one’s family safer is of great value to parents.”

How Teen Driver Works

Parents can keep an eye on their teen drivers even when they are not in the car with their children thanks to Teen Driver. According to Chevrolet, Teen Driver supports safe driving habits by muting the audio of the radio or any device paired with the vehicle when front seat occupants aren’t wearing their safety belts, and it gives audible and visual warnings when the vehicle is traveling faster than preset speeds.

This built-in system is an industry-first and lets parents view on a display how their teenager drove the 2016 Malibu. To use Teen Driver, a parent needs to enable the feature by creating a PIN in the Settings menu of their available MyLink system. This then allows them to register their teen’s key fob. The system’s settings are turned on only to registered key fobs.

  • Distance driven
  • Maximum speed traveled
  • Over-speed warnings issued
  • Stability control events
  • Antilock brake events
  • Forward Collision Alerts (if equipped)
  • Forward Collision Braking events (if equipped)

Promoting Safe Teen Driving

If your 2016 Malibu has the following available safety features, Teen Driver can automatically turn them on and keep them from manually being turned off:

  • Stability Control
  • Front and Rear Park Assist
  • Side Blind Zone Alert
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Daytime Running Lamps / Automatic Light Control
  • Forward Collision Braking
  • Traction Control
  • Front Pedestrian Braking
