Chevy Malibu Snags Superb Summer Recognition Status as “Best Midsize Car” in J.D. Power 2022 Initial Quality Study

GM Authority reported last week that J.D. Power awarded the Chevy Malibu the highest initial vehicle quality in its segment. The award was based on survey responses from over 84,000 purchasers of brand-new 2022 models.

The survey took place between February and May of 2022 and contained 223 detailed questions about the vehicles’ overall features rating, controls and displays, driving assistance, interior, infotainment, and climate adjustment. Once these responses were officially recorded, each individual brand and vehicle was given a score based on the number of problems that popped up per lot of 100 vehicles. The lower this PP100 score, the higher its substantial quality rating.

The Malibu beat out the Nissan Altima and Kia K5 for in the Midsize Car category, and the Chevy brand overall achieved amazing results with the Corvette securing its spot as the king of the hill in the Premium Sport Car category. The Equinox, Silverado LD and HD, and Chevy Tahoe all brought home their own top-of-segment rankings, once again providing the level of satisfaction that makes Chevy buyers want to purchase one again.

The 2022 Chevy Malibu boasts an attractive base price, spacious cabin, well-composed ride, and now has the electronic parking brake included as standard. U.S. News praised the Malibu for its “stellar handling and superb everyday manners.” When it comes to technology, the Chevy Infotainment 3 system is simple to use and very responsive, and Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were introduced last year.  Standard infotainment features include an 8-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, six-speaker stereo, wireless smartphone connectivity, and USB port. Other available features that make the midsummer drive that much more fun are dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and a sunroof.

You’ll have the choice of two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, with the standard one cranking out 160 horsepower, and the Premier trim level’s option offering 250 horsepower paired with a 9-speed transmission. Come see us here at Jim Butler and test drive the car that is winning so many awards and accolades!
