2017 Chevrolet Malibu: Redesigned, Retuned, Reinvigorated
Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis presents practical yet premium mid-size sedan
The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu was redesigned and resized by Chevrolet engineers to offer a lighter, roomier and more advanced to the sedan owners of St. Louis through Jim Butler Chevrolet. New technologies, more leg room and even an upcoming hybrid powertrain option present a formidable choice for Chevrolet fans everywhere.
Since the 1960s, the Malibu nameplate has been a mainstay for Chevrolet. Though cars have changed throughout the decades, the idea of a reliable, intuitive and advanced family sedan has not. With the latest technology and fuel-efficiency advancements, the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu looks to turn the corner and lead the way in the competitive midsize sedan segment.
For the exterior, the 2017 Malibu has shed some weight. Like its brother-from-another-mother Camaro, the Malibu shed 300 pounds for 2016 which improves the drivability of the sedan. The 2017 Malibu is the lightest vehicle (3,086 pounds) in the segment as well as the longest (more than 3,500 inches).
Inside, 1.3 inches of legroom have been added to create a more comfortable Chevy experience for the passengers in the rear seats. Built-in USB ports and an available wireless phone charging station will help keep your devices charged as you take advantage of the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi, allowing you to connect up to seven devices at once in the 2017 Malibu.
The Malibu isn’t a one-trick pony, though. For 2017, Chevy’s midsize sedan ups the ante with available smartphone integration. AppleCar play syncs your Chevrolet MyLink system with your iPhone to allow you to use approved apps such as texts being read to you and music stations to be operated hands-free.
As a choice for a family sedan, the 2016 Malibu has new active safety features with available packages that help both younger drivers and those around the vehicle. If you have a teen driver just getting a grip on the wheel, the Teen Driver system will help monitor their driving when you’re not there and give cues to help your teen driver. The Teen Driver feature can gauge the following:
- Distance driven
- Maximum speed traveled
- Over-speed warnings issued
- Stability control events
- Antilock brake events
- Forward Collision Alerts (if equipped)
- Forward Collision Braking events (if equipped).
2017 Malibu Hybrid Changes the Game
Turn heads while turning over a new environmental leaf. The new 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is estimated to get up to 48 mpg city and 47 mpg combined, better than other 2017 midsize hybrid sedans. The 1.8-liter gas engine works with the 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery to produce 182 horsepower. The Malibu hybrid is also loaded with standard features.
